Avrielle Aniko's Guide to Vibrators

It is true that a woman’s best friend is no longer diamonds, but her vibrator! It wasn’t so long ago that sex toys were only found in sleazy sex shops, but that has all changed with an estimated 65% of under 70 year olds owning a sex toy in the UK. The subject of vibrators is no longer deemed to be so taboo, with sex toys appearing on our television screens and accepted amongst famous celebrities such as Katy Perry, Rhianna and Eva Longoria.

But with so many different types of vibrator, how is one supposed to know where to begin? Well, fear not because I am here to give you a comprehensive guide to it all.

Bullet Vibrators

Small, discreet and extremely powerful, these can be a great option for beginners. They get their name from their shape, looking much like gun ammo. These are normally around 2-3 inches in length and are designed for stimulating the clitoris. Bullet vibrators should not be used inside the vagina, but are perfect for external stimulation.

As well as being great for giving strong and precise vibrations on the clitoris, they can also be used on the inner and outer labia, the outer entrance to the vagina, inner thighs, nipples, neck and nearly anywhere else you can think of! This makes this little beauty perfect for use between couples and –unlike a real bullet – is about as non-threatening as you can get!

Avrielle’s Tip – If you find the vibrations of a vibrator too intense for you to start with then try tying a piece of silk or other soft fabric in a bow around the vibrator. The vibrations will travel along the bow, but will be dulled slightly and the softness of the fabric will make it feel less overwhelming.

Clitoral Vibrators
These are so very much like bullet vibrators in that the primary use is for stimulating the clitoris. And like bullets, most can be used for plenty other external pleasure points, like nipples, inside of thighs etc. The only real difference is that clitoral vibrators can come in a variety of different shapes rather than the standard bullet. Clitoral vibrators tend to come a little larger than bullets too, but they are still often very couple-friendly and non-threatening.
Some clitoral vibes come in rather unique designs, like the Tickler brand vibrators which are shaped to help the user experience new methods of receiving pleasure by using imagination to gain the most out of the unusual curves and contours.
Avrielle’s Tip – Vibrators are not just for female use. Why not treat your partner to the thrills of vibrations by using a small vibrator up against his testicles, the shaft and tip of his penis or against the perineum (the hairless area of skin between the scrotum and the anus).

G-Spot Vibrators
The G-Spot is the most sensitive part of the vagina usually found around 1-3 inches inside on the front wall. When stimulated, the G-spot can become more noticeable and swell or feel slightly lumpy to the touch. Many woman have found and experimented with their G-spot, and some women are able to ejaculate or ‘squirt’, making the G-Spot one of the major ‘hot spots’ for experimentation.
G-Spot Vibrators are designed to help make the process of finding and stimulating the sensitive tissues easier for some women. They come in a variety of different shapes, lengths and sizes, giving women a wide selection to find which vibrator is best for them. But they are all identifiable by their curved tip which is designed to probe the soft tissues of the G-Spot and provide pleasure. There is no way to say which G-Spot vibrator works the best as every woman is different. It really is just a case of discovering what you enjoy and which vibrator works best for you.
Avrielle’s Tip – Some G-Spot vibrators can look awkward to someone who hasn’t used one before. Go gently when inserting it, use some water-based lubricant to help ease it in and once the curved tip is inside you facing forward, it should feel comfortable. Use a stroking motion by gently moving the vibrator up and down inside you and hopefully you will soon be able to feel a particular area becoming more responsive than the rest. That should be the G-Spot. It can be a good idea to use your fingers to help find where your G-Spot is located before using a toy.

Rabbit Vibrators
After its first appearance on the television series Sex and the City, the Rabbit shook the earth as women all over the world experienced the renowned vibrator first hand! The innovative rabbit ‘ears’ and shaft which provides dual vaginal and clitoral stimulation make this type of vibrator stand out from all the rest. Since the infamous Rabbit shown on Sex and the City hit our television screens, demand went through the roof and there is now a huge variety of shapes, sizes and functions to choose from.
Many feature rotating beads located in the shaft, which is also unique to rabbit vibrators, to help provide G-Spot stimulation. But there are many other types out there with many different functions, like thrusting shafts, rippling shafts, stimulator's for both the clitoris and the anus or ones that simply have a variety of vibrations through both the clitoral rabbit ears and the shaft.
Avrielle’s Tip – There are many ways to use a Rabbit vibrator. If you want to warm yourself up before inserting the shaft of the vibrator, then simply turn the rabbit the other way around so that the rabbit ears are facing towards you and the shaft pointing upwards, towards your belly button. This way you can most comfortably and easily use the clitoral stimulator by itself. If your Rabbit shaft is the type that has rotating beads, you can use these externally up against your clitoris or experiment on other body parts, by holding the shaft up against you so that the stimulating ‘ears’ are facing out the other way.

Classic Vibrators
These were how most vibrators used to look. Long, thin and smooth, they were originally marketed as massagers to reach those aches and pains after a hard day, but women all over the world discovered a far better use for them! Nowadays, a ‘classic’ vibrator is sold primarily for insertion to reach those sweet spots, but there is nothing wrong with using them for external and clitoral stimulation and are still great for using on your shoulders.
Often made from a hard plastic, they are pretty durable and very simple to use. Because of their versatility and easy use, ‘classic’ vibrators make for a great first vibrator.
Avrielle’s Tip – Classic vibrators are great for beginners and couples. You can easily introduce one through foreplay with your partner by massaging the shoulders with it and work your way down, over erogenous zones to help ease you both in to sex.

Vibrating Eggs
Vibrating eggs (or Love Eggs as they are sometimes known) are rounded vibrators that are used by inserting inside the vagina, and then controlled externally with a remote control that is connected either with a cable or wirelessly. These are brilliantly couple-friendly, as your partner can take full control over the vibrations of the egg. Some wireless eggs have a good range on them, meaning that your partner could even control your orgasms from another room!
Some people enjoy going even further by inserting a vibrating egg, or slipping one in their underwear before going out and about for some public thrills!
Remote controlled sex toys are also a great option for people who sometimes have difficulty in reaching the buttons on a vibrator or find it awkward to hold a vibrator between their legs for a while.
Avrielle’s Tip – You don’t have to just insert the vibrating egg. You can also use it by holding it against your clitoris or even as a massager against your shoulders.

Massager Vibrators
These vibrators are used primarily for massaging and are often pretty good at it! They usually have a large surface area and are curved and shaped to fit snugly in the palm of your hand while gaining the most out of it when used against most areas of the body that need massaging - and that quite often includes in-between the legs too! Almost all massagers are not to be used internally, but can be used up against the clitoris and labia, giving vibrations over a larger area than most other vibrators.
Avrielle’s Tip – Why not use a massager to give your lover a treat by setting up the bedroom with some scented candles and dimmed lighting for a sensual foreplay massage.

Wand Vibrators

The first wand vibrator was introduced by a well-known Japanese electronics company, originally designed as a deep penetrating massager. But very quickly women all over the world found other places the wand was great for massaging! Since 2010 however, the brand discontinued the sale of their infamous wand in the UK and Europe and a cry out for demand went up in a roar! Now there are a number of different wand vibrators available that are very similar in design and strength to the original.
Wand vibrators are easily the strongest type of vibrator available. Even the most demanding of power queens would have a difficult time complaining about the strength. I don’t recommend this type of vibrator for beginners though, as the vibrations are very strong indeed and it is wiser to try something a little less powerful to begin with until you have found what sort of vibration power is best suited to you.
Wand vibrators are not usually suited for insertion, but some have attachments available which can customise your wand for vaginal use. The head usually has a large surface area making it great for massage as well as more intimate use against the clitoris and labia.
Avrielle’s Tip – Good things come to those who wait. Start off slowly with your wand vibrator on a comfortable setting and work your way up gradually as your body becomes accustomed to the vibration strength. No need to place the vibrator directly on your most intimate areas either. You could have an old t-shirt or some soft fabric in-between you and the wand head for a less powerful sensation. Or try warming up to the vibes by stroking it up your inner thighs or over your labia or even the underneath of your breasts.
Well, that’s it for your guide to vibrators. Keep experimenting and have fun!
Happy Sexing Everyone! xx
